I am going to Golden Sands in July this year staying at the Melia Grand Hermitage with my boyfriend and was wondering if any-one can provide some general advice with regards to:. I am sure you will enjoy your stay in the Grand Hermitage. Its a lovely hotel in a brilliant location just 2 mins from the beach. We stayed a few years back in the neigbouring Zlatna Kotva and the Sirena both now apartments.
Lets say your money will go much further in Bulgaria as the cost of food and drink is much cheaper than most other European holiday destinations. We first visited Golden Sands around 20 years ago when the Melia Grand was a casino, have been back around 10 times over the years and have always come back with spending money as things are so reasonable. Theres lots of really nice restaurants around the resort serving delicious food. I am sure you will have a brilliant time! Hopefully you will get more up to date feedback about prices on the forum from people who have visited in Horse riding is excellent.
Try Bulgaria on horse back. Bulgaria is a very pretty country. The Black Sea is beautiful. The buses were cheap to get around on. I had no issues with the language despite the reps saying it would be difficult to use buses. We went to Varna on the bus to see what it was like and we spoke English. The Golden Sands area was also full of prostitutes which isn't very family orientated. There was also a lot of mud wrestling with strange ladies. I didn't feel that the atmosphere was very nice.
The food was lovely and cheap. I would avoid milk if you have children as when I went it came from a goat and was steaming. The butter was kept in a bucket.. This might be all different now but it did put me off from returning when I went there last. I stayed in the Gladiola and that was a lovely hotel with a marble floor. It was on the flat and no hills to walk up and no howling dogs or wolves in the distance.
They sounded more like wolves to me. Varna has a lovely park and black squirrels. They make funny noises. It was different to see black squirrels. I was reminded of "The Hobbit". The buildings were communist grey and the shops were like walking into the set of "Are You Being Served". I forgot to say I recommend the trip to Nessebur if it is till offered. That is a lovely place.
